Money fuels a campaign. It is a fact that if you cannot finance a great message, it most likely will not be heard by enough voters to accomplish victory! Colin Peterson spent over $1,200,000 on the 2010 campaign, in a district in which he has been the incumbent for eighteen years. It is noteworthy that Representative Peterson, in terms of fundraising, is the most extreme of all 8 Congressional Representatives from Minnesota. Representative Peterson receives over 80% of all campaign contributions from outside Minnesota and/or Special Interest Groups.

To reach the goal of $1,000,000+ for our 2012 campaign, we will need financial support from all levels of contributors. Ranging from $10, from supporters active through our Campaign Heritage Alliance, up to the maximum donation of $5,000 for members of the 400 Club.

The 400 Club is focused on people who have the capacity to support our campaign with $1,000 or more. It is made up of community leaders, enterprise leaders, farmers and retirees, who believe in a government of the people… by the people… and for the people. As of January 2012, about 80 leaders have already joined our 400 Club, contributing an average of $1,762 each. This extraordinary early support is exceptional, in that about 90% all of contributions received by our Campaign to date are sourced from within the 7th Congressional District.

This local support is in stark contrast to the money raised by Colin Peterson. The majority of his money comes from special interest groups and power brokers from outside Minnesota. The question we have to ask is… if money fuels a campaign, who becomes the driver?
