Campaign Advisory Board for Accountability

Campaign Advisory Board
The first step to restore the integrity of our national political process does not begin in Washington, but rather with how we conduct ourselves at home in the midst of ‘we the people’. Lee has committed himself to being accountable to the people in his district. This is not only true for the campaign ahead but even more so after he is elected. How many politicians do you know that have been in office for more than four years that stick to their principles? No one man or woman can do this alone.

Because of this, Lee has surrounded himself with men and women of the highest caliber from throughout the district through an advisory board. They come from many different perspectives including private business and experienced political activists.

While they may not always agree on all individual policies, Lee is leading by seeking to be held accountable to voters, and these leaders, on three governing principles. Furthermore, Lee is dedicated to raising the majority of all financial support for the Campaign from within the 7th Congressional District and the State of Minnesota, as opposed to majority sourced from outside Minnesota. The three governing principles are defined further below:

Each of the board members has agreed to serve in this capacity, not only up to the election in November of 2012; but also during Congressional term. The board members are as follows:

1. Paul Aasness: Former State Representative and long time farmer and AG industry leader from Ottertail County

2. Nancy Haapoja: Director of Redwood Falls Youth for Christ and Chairperson of Redwood County Republican Party

3. Tony Freeburg: Pastor of Willmar Church of the Nazarene

4. John Chapin: past President of Willmar Electric Service, served as National President of Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)

The three governing principles:

1) Liberty: Derived from Limited Federal Government (resulting in Sensible Local Government)…

T. Jefferson: “Good government is limited government and … limited government encourages our civic happiness.”

2) Pursuit of Happiness: Experienced through Free Enterprise…

R. Reagan: “Entrepreneurs and their small enterprises are responsible for almost all the economic growth in the United States”

3) Secured through a Moral Code…

J. Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

All three principles are essential to each other. Liberty without a moral code leads to anarchy! Individual responsibility is derived from having a moral code. A moral code gives us a backbone, without it people cannot be self-governed because they will violate the basic rights of others. Limited Government, therefore, can’t exist without a basic moral code. If people are incapable of self-governance due to a lack of such basic moral code, then Free Enterprise cannot succeed in a reality of Limited Government.

It is however possible to restore our American economic prosperity and the pursuit of happiness! A new and long lasting dedication by our people, to a moral code, will replace the bureaucratic inefficiencies and cost of big government, with the “speed of trust”. No nation can compete with America or any other nation whose people elect to be wired to basic principles. Such code will restore America as the land of opportunity.
